Spring break

A brief hiatus from writing and publishing for our two-week spring break, so stay tuned for more in a little while. This has been an important journey for me, and I’m so grateful that you’re following along.

In the meantime, some fragments:

  • I’ve created a photo gallery – mostly a showcase for some images of Owen, which I hope to fashion into an exhibit somewhere. (Go to the Collection called One Person in Particular.)
  • The coroner called.  Official cause of death is SUDEP – Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy.  A diagnosis of elimination when there is a history of seizures and no other discernible cause of death.  He must have heard me chuckle because he kept repeating it was a real thing.
  • Tomorrow will be 5 months.  The passing of time feels almost cruel in its relentlessness.
  • Life Without Owen is slowly becoming Life After Owen. Good and bad.

  1. Thanks for the inspiration. Your knowledge and patience are great asset.
Your experience as a parent a constant reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to cherish every moment with our growing little ones.

  2. wow…5 months already…feels like your call was yesterday.
Last week marked 2 years for me…I thought it might be easier by now …and wish I could tell you it was, but this last two weeks has felt as raw as 2010. Guess the journey is far from over.
So glad to see you writing so regularly…it’s beautiful, and wrenching at the same time. Good for your sharing your story and the wisdom gained.
    Talk soon.

  3. I’m certain that your show, like your book will be extraordinary. It’s extraordinary, too, that I’ve been writing about SUDEP on my blog of late — today and I have another post going up tomorrow. Your Owen was so beautiful — I am grateful that you are sharing his life a bit with us.

I hope you have a peaceful, nourishing spring break, and I look forward to your return.

  4. I always thought when I lost my brother and the days kept moving on…in one way (for me) “it’s only been five months?” and in another “wow, it’s been five whole months!” Now it has been ten years, it still takes my breath away and brings a tear to my eye when I remember how much time has past.

I hope you enjoyed your spring break!
