Angus went trick-or-treating with some friends. Had a fantastic time, in a neighbourhood that goes all out with decorations. He had deliberated about his costume for weeks: a T1000 (you know. . . the liquid guy in Terminator 2); a hippie; some kind of spy.
Angus
It’s enough to break your heart wide open
Protector of free speech, outraged critic of injustice and defender of Bubbies everywhere. Angus is his champion, his pal, his biggest fan. More than this. He is his brother.
Brothers, vacations and wheelchairs
We used to vacation as a family at Severn Lodge, a lovely little family-run resort on the Trent-Severn waterway, a couple of hours north of the city.
Spring break
A brief hiatus from writing and publishing for our two-week spring break, so stay tuned for more in a little while.
A little help from his friends
The day after Owen’s death, before Angus returned to school, Ms. M gathered the children and told them that their beloved classmate Angus had experienced a tremendous loss.
A few days away
I took Angus to Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. Beautiful weather, lovely resort, great adventures… and a needed break away from home.
How things are
Some photos…
Based on a true story
Jennifer, Angus and Owen are waiting at a stoplight, on their way to ‘the big corner’ – the bustling retail intersection close to their house.
Words are cheap
It’s a little-known secret that I’m a hobbyist painter. I crank out an acrylic painting (on canvas) about twice a year or so. I started about three years ago and have maybe 10 floating around my house.
Good enough
I am watching my boys growing and I am stunned at how quickly their childhoods are giving way to eventual adulthood. I get ahead of myself a bit perhaps – they’re only 9 and 11 – but they’re over half way to what we typically think of as ‘grown up’.
